U.K. Announces Restriction on Non-EU WorkersThe United Kingdom's Home Secretary announced this week a temporary limit on the number of non-European Union (EU) workers allowed into the U.K. This reduction in immigration will challenge global companies in securing permission to hire new migrant workers. The interim effects of this decision will affect all Tier 2 applications, and portions of Tier 1 and Tier 4 (students). To avoid large numbers of applications between now and April next year, the government will impose an interim limit, which will take effect July 19, 2010. Further changes, to be announced after September 2010, may have a greater impact on the ability of U.K. employers to bring non European Union workers to the U.K. For additional information, contact Chris Pardo, Vice President of Global Services at 888.251.2825 or by email or visit the U.K. Home Secretary's website. |
