position summary

the controller is responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of all transactions and supporting accounting records, which includes the assurance of compliance with established approval and control procedures.

essential job functions

  • protect assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks across all departments
  • manage the accuracy and productivity of daily activities in accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing and billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, and operations
  • monitor company compliance with established procedures and internal controls, while making recommendations and working with personnel to remedy problems identified
  • maintain commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource
  • interface with outside audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty and liability insurance agents, credit card companies, and collection agencies
  • communicate and assist foreign subsidiaries with financial reporting
  • develop, improve, and issue timely monthly financial statements for the Executive Management team
  • develop and maintain corporate annual budget
  • review, analyze, and recommend D&B Reports of clients for financial risk

manager functions

  • maintain and monitor team workload, performance, and service delivery quality
  • determine baseline service performance metrics and set goals for excellence
  • ensure successful completion of direct reports’ KPIs
  • assess developmental needs and assist in the initial and ongoing training and education opportunities
  • conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews with recommendations for salary increases, promotions, and disciplinary action as appropriate
  • oversee allocation of resources and staff to ensure consistent, high-quality customer service
  • provide guidance for team members regarding the resolution of routine as well as complex operational and customer service situations
  • participate in the interviewing, hiring, and retention of highly engaged employees

additional requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • minimum 5 years of experience in Public Accounting
  • minimum 2 years of experience in Corporate Accounting
